Policy Summary: Insuredcart App, Inc.

This summary is only a section of the full Marine Open Cargo Policy written for the account of Insuredcart App, Inc. (“Insuredcart”). Insurance coverage is subject to the full terms and conditions of the policy.

Insuredcart shipping protection applies to the online purchase of merchandise when the merchandise is lost or damaged. At the same time, in transit or “porch pirated” (“porch pirated” means that the carrier reports the status as “delivered” but the parcel has been stolen from the delivery address, and a police report has been filed).

For Insuredcart to extend shipping protection to customers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Insuredcart (a licensed producer entity) procures a cargo insurance policy from an insurance underwriter that designates Insuredcart as the named insured (the “Insuredcart Policy”). The Insuredcart Policy extends coverage to shipments where the transportation is tracked through Insuredcart. This offer of coverage does not provide insurance to you directly, and you are neither an insured nor an additional insured under Insuredcart’s Policy. Your election to add packages to Insuredcart’s Policy is entirely optional. You have the option of obtaining protection from an alternative source or not at all.

The customers' cost for shipping protection is generally $0.98 for orders under $100 of merchandise value and $1.00 per $100 of merchandise value for orders of $100 or more. 

Shipping protection charges include insurance premiums, fees for Insuredcart’s tracking service, and administrative fees. Insuredcart reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change pricing at any time. 

Any charges for Insuredcart shipping protection will appear in the customer’s shopping cart at checkout on the applicable merchant’s website.

Customers that have paid for Insuredcart shipping protection can file claims for packages that have been lost or damaged in transit or “porch pirated” at our help center.


New lawful and approved goods are insured against “All-Risk” of physical loss or damage from any external cause.

Excluded Goods include cash, cigarettes, and other products, computer memory modules and cards, cotton, fine art (defined as art valued more than $10,000 per piece), flowers, and fresh foods (excepting frozen foods in refrigerated containers). Others such as jewelry valued more than $300 per piece, live animals, negotiable papers, perishable commodities (defined as commodities which spoil or deteriorate when not carried or stored in a temperature-controlled environment), pharmaceutical drugs, plants, precious stones and metals, and securities are among the excluded goods. It also excludes automobiles and motorcycles, bagged goods, boats and yachts, ceramic, marble or granite tiles, slabs blocks, counter-tops or statues, glass windows, plate glass, and similar goods; lumber, used household goods and personal effects; scrap metal, steel metal, and steel metal products.

Special Commodity Insuring Conditions

CLOTHES and other accessories are insured against “All Risks” of physical loss or damage from any external cause except for the exclusions listed below, and further excluding gradual deterioration. It is, however, agreed that while the goods insured are under proper packaging, this insurance is extended to cover loss, damage or deterioration due to, or caused by derangement, lack or improper packaging, padding or boxing  provided such derangement or  continues for a period not less than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours.

Notwithstanding the provisions of the exclusions stated above, this insurance covers loss of or damage caused by the negligence of any third party who has possession or custody of or responsibility for the cargo insured hereunder during the time that this Policy is in force. Clothes shipped by air are on application only.

SERVER RACKS (When containing computers, servers, and/or electronic components) are insured against “All Risks” of physical loss or damage from any external cause, except for the exclusions listed below. However, each claim shall be subject to a deductible of ten percent (10%) of the total insured value (subject to a minimum deductible of $5,000). Claims for damage and/or breakage shall be excluded entirely unless the server racks are packed and shipped in wood crates.

USED GOODS are insured subject to FPA terms. Subject to an additional premium, coverage may be extended to include theft and/or non-delivery of an entire shipment.

Geographical Limits 

We deliver to and fro ports from places in the world with the privilege of transshipment by land and/or water; however, shipments to/from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan and truck/rail shipments to/from/within Mexico other than as a connecting conveyance are excluded entirely. We also engage in domestic shipments within the United States and/or Canada. All other domestic shipments are excluded unless specifically endorsed hereon. Besides, South American countries’ orders will possibly come with a customs fee.

Regardless of the Duration of Risk clauses found elsewhere in this Policy, insurance coverage for shipments to Haiti, Nigeria, Pakistan, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) ceases upon discharge from transportation. The CIS presently includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.


This insurance sets off from the time the goods insured commence transit and/or are located anywhere incidental to transit and continues during the ordinary course of transit until transportation terminates at the final destination or the Assured’s interest ceases, whichever occurs first.


Our insurance policy does not cover any loss, damage, or expense attributable to or caused by:

A. Ordinary leakage, ordinary loss in weight or volume, or ordinary wear and tear of the goods insured;

B. Willful misconduct, infidelity, conversion or dishonest acts of the Assured, or the Assured’s employees, whether committed alone or in cooperation with others;

C. Rust, oxidation or discoloration on unpacked and/or unprotected cargo;

D. Loss of market or loss, damage, expense or deterioration arising from delay, whether caused by a peril insured against or otherwise;

E. Inherent vice or nature of the goods protected;

F. Insolvency or financial default of the owners, managers, charterers, or operators of the vessel was, at the time of loading of the goods insured on board the ship, the Assured is aware, or in the ordinary course of business should be aware, that such insolvency or financial default could prevent the normal prosecution of the voyage. This exclusion shall not apply where the contract of insurance has been assigned to the party claiming hereunder who has bought or agreed to purchase the goods insured in good faith under a binding agreement.

G. Insufficiency or unsuitability of packing or preparation of the goods insured to withstand the ordinary incidents of the insured transit, but only where such packing or preparation is carried out by the party presenting the claim for payment, or its employees, before the attachment of this insurance (for purposes of this clause, “packing” shall be deemed to include stowage in a container, and “employees” shall not include independent contractors).

Where a loss results from improper packing, but the claim is covered because the packing was not performed by the party presenting the demand for payment or its employees, it is the duty of the Assured to assist Underwriters in recovery efforts against responsible parties. It is further understood that we do not provide for the recovery of future claims under our Policy, which arise from improper packing performed by the same person or entity unless additional shipment(s) have already departed from the same shipper when improper packing is first discovered.

H. Electrical, electronic and/or mechanical derangement unless the Assured can indicate that such damage is the result of a peril insured against;

I. Shipments on chartered vessels that are not classed A1 American Record or equivalent by a member of the International Association of Classification Societies; chartered vessels over 40 years of age; vessels on break-up voyages; chartered barges; vessels built for service on the Great Lakes; vessels built solely for Military or Naval Service; or vessels built for carriage of dry bulk or liquid bulk cargoes, and which are more than 20 years of age;

J. Any accident occurring while rolling stock cargo is being driven under its power or towed on its wheels, except during loading and unloading and positioning by the steamship line.



The following information is vital to this policy:

  • name, age, date of birth, gender, and other suitable demographic information of the customer.

  • geographical location;

  • customer’s contact details: postal address, billing and delivery addresses, telephone numbers including (mobile numbers) email address;

  • feedback, competition and survey responses;

  • customer’s communication and marketing preferences, including correspondence and communications with Insuredcart, Inc.

  • purchases and orders made by the customer;

  • online browsing activities on company websites including items added to the shopping cart;

  • social media handles, and other publicly available data on social media apps (such as Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, or public Facebook page).

At any point, we may require additional data from you following the above-stated purpose. Setting up an online account on our website or sending an email to our Customer Support team directly collates data on you. Data is collected indirectly, for instance, when you browse our websites or participate in online shopping activity. With your consent, we may collect data from third parties close to you. Personal data used for research purposes will retain anonymity. This website is not targeted towards children, and we do not deliberately request information on children.
